A one-page layout that works for any major. Each section notes what belongs there, so replace the placeholder text with your own and delete the parts that do not apply to you.

Resume tips

01

Keep it to one page

Put your strongest, most relevant work first. Cut older or weaker items before you shrink the font or the margins.

Start each bullet with a verb

Say what you did, then what came of it: “Built a rain barrel system that watered 12 garden beds.” Numbers make the result concrete.

One line per bullet

Fill each line without spilling onto a second. Short, full lines are easier to scan than long wrapped ones.

Everything counts

Class projects, research, clubs, volunteering and part-time jobs all belong here. First-years can list high school; transfer students should list their previous college.

Name your skills

List the tools you have used, like AutoCAD, Python or Excel. Writing, design and fundraising count too: every subteam needs more than engineering.

Proofread, then save as PDF

Keep your contact details on one line, check every date and name, and export as a PDF so the formatting holds. A suggested file name is LastName_FirstName_Resume.pdf, though EWB does not require it.

Deadlines depend on your class year.

Upperclassmen applied in September and that round has closed. First-year and transfer students follow the College of Engineering’s later schedule, which runs through November.

Common questions.

Yes. The EWB team-specific application is what our subteam leads read. The Cornell general project team application is required of every project team applicant across the College of Engineering. Applications are now closed, but this is how the process works each recruitment cycle.
No. Our 43 members come from all fields of study, including applied economics, Near Eastern studies, English, cognitive science, statistics, and the natural sciences. Project work needs designers, communicators, fundraisers, and writers as much as engineers.
Expect roughly 3 to 6 hours per week for team meetings, project work, and events. Some teams ramp up around build trips and deadlines.
There is no minimum GPA. We care about your interest in humanitarian work and your willingness to learn and contribute.
Yes. The College of Engineering sets a separate, later schedule for all project teams: applications are due October 15 at 11:59 p.m., the uniform first offer date is November 2, and onboarding may begin November 4. First-year and transfer students do not enroll for credit in fall 2026 and are limited to 10 hours per week of team activity; all new project teams students enroll in ENGRG 1400 during the first 7-week session of the spring semester.
Read the five subteam pages first: International, Domestic, Digital Agriculture/Internet of Things, Software, and Business. If you are torn, say so in the application and talk it through with a current member.
