Common questions.

Yes. The EWB team-specific application is what our subteam leads read. The Cornell general project team application is required of every project team applicant across the College of Engineering. If either one is missing on September 3, the application is incomplete and will not be reviewed.

No. Our 46 members come from 18 fields of study, including urban studies, East Asian studies, English, cognitive science, statistics, and the natural sciences. Project work needs designers, communicators, fundraisers, and writers as much as engineers.

Expect roughly 3 to 6 hours per week for team meetings, project work, and events. Some teams ramp up around build trips and deadlines.

There is no minimum GPA. We care about your interest in humanitarian work and your willingness to learn and contribute.

Yes. The College of Engineering sets a separate, later schedule for all project teams: applications are due October 15 at 11:59 p.m., the uniform first offer date is November 2, and onboarding may begin November 4. First-year and transfer students do not enroll for credit in fall 2026 and are limited to 10 hours per week of team activity; all new project teams students enroll in ENGRG 1400 during the first 7-week session of the spring semester.

Read the five subteam pages first: International, Domestic, Digital Agriculture/Internet of Things, Software, and Business. If you are torn, say so in the application and talk it through with a current member.
